About the event

APT Texas Tech Talk # 1

Presented by: Komatsu Architecture

One of the most common issues we run into working on Historic buildings is a lack of accurate drawings to work from. For years, the only solution was to go out and painstakingly measure the building by hand, then translate those measurements into drawings. Recently, however, tools like LiDAR have become more accessible. This laser scanning technology can be used to build accurate point clouds of a building, which can then be brought into 3D modeling software like Rhino and Revit.

St. Andrews Church, Fort Worth TX

Join APT Texas for a discussion on the use of this technology in preserving and documenting historic buildings, including an overview of the scanning process and lessons learned on translating the scans into a usable architectural model.
